13-12-2006

Report no. 4/2006

The report concerns the manner in which the Ministry of Family and Consumer Affairs and the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration have managed the inspection of food and animals since year 2000.

In March 2006 it became known that the DVFC had not carried out the prerequisited inspections in a number of food companies. In continuation hereof, the Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee requested the NAOD to examine the matter.

The NAOD has examined the extent of the missing inspection visits in the DVFC since year 2000. In addition, the NOAD has examined the Ministry of Family and Consumer Affairs and the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration’s planning of the inspections and the initiatives taken by these entities to rectify the lacking inspection visits in the DVFC. Finally, the NAOD has evaluated the information provided by the Minister of Family and Consumer Affairs to the Folketing concerning the planning and implementation of the food control.
