This report concerns the administration of the FIFG grant to the Danish fisheries sector. The Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries has in 2000-2006 contributed around DKK 1.6 billion to the fisheries sector. DKK 1.1 billion of this amount has been reimbursed through the EU Financial Instrument for Fisheries Guidance (FIFG).
The overall objective of the report is to assess whether the Danish programme has been managed satisfactorily and has been focused on the three strategic objectives laid down in the Danish FIFG programme. Rigsrevisionen has examined whether the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries has established an appropriate management basis for the programme. Rigsrevisionen has also examined whether administration has been conducted in a satisfactory manner and whether the Ministry has followed up systematically on the implementation of the programme.
Sweden and Great Britain operate with similar programmes to develop their fisheries and Rigsrevisionen has included their experiences in the examination, as these may inspire possible improvement.
